What Would You Make With a Free Afternoon? Here’s What You Said!

What Would You Make With a Free Afternoon? Here’s What You Said!

One of the nicest parts of running this shop is hearing what everyone is actually making.

So on Friday we asked a simple question:

“If you had a free afternoon this weekend, what would you most like to make?”

The responses were brilliant and really varied.  They are summarised below so you can see what other crafters in the community are working on (and maybe spark your next idea too!).

  • Birthday cards - 34% - a lot of you are working on upcoming birthdays and like to have a few ready in advance.
  • Seasonal projects - 21% - from early Christmas prep to Spring makes, seasonal crafting is clearly on many minds.
  • Creative experimenting - 19% - trying new techniques, testing ideas, or just having a relaxed craft session came up again and again.
  • Scrapbooking - 10% - memory albums are still a favourite for many of you.
  • Gifts for friends and family - 9% - handmade gifts are as popular as ever (and always appreciated).
  • Finishing unfinished projects - 7% - quite a few of you said you’d finally tackle those “I’ll finish that later” projects!

The top four replies were:

  • Christine - "Try something new and different to what I normally make".
  • Marielouise - "Something to do with a springtime theme to brighten my spirits, knitted obviously as that's my passion".
  • Marilyn - "I make birthday cards using your tri fold aperture cards, and embroidering designs on linen".
  • Lynda - "I craft every day of the year mainly Christmas items to raise money at craft stalls for a charity that I support".

What this tells us is that there’s no single “right” way to spend a crafting afternoon.  Some of you are planning ahead, creating for others, experimenting just for fun, or finally finishing something you started.  And that’s exactly what makes this community so inspiring.

A little inspiration for your next project

If you’re not sure what to make next, why not try something from the list above?

  • Got a birthday coming up? Make a card early so you're ready and not stressed out at the last minute.
  • Feeling creative? Try something new without any pressure to be "perfect".
  • Short on time? Finish an old project (this is very satisfying!).

Sometimes the best ideas come from seeing what others are doing.

Want to be featured next time?

We picked one reply at random this week - congratulations to Christine, who will receive a little gift voucher to spend on her next order in our shop.

Thank you to everyone who shared what they’re working on - it really does make this community what it is.  We’ll be sharing more community responses like this (and we might even feature individual projects too).

If you’d like to be included next time, just reply to the email when it lands in your inbox and tell us what you’re working on - and you might even inspire someone else’s next creation!
